Scope is a very irrelevant term, since it depends on aptitude and temperament. Most people would consider animation a tougher art and needing more preparation, hence the so called 'scope' would be better in a tougher art for most good artists. Luckily for you, at Graduation level usually you would study both animation and vfx under the same degree in most universities. Wish you the best for your career. Remember, your Career is a resultant of your knowledge combined with your passion and expression ability. If you like this answer you may select it as best answer or press like.

It all depends on your imaginative ability, ability to handle related software, any specific ability like music, dramatics, art, sketching, painting , ability for dramatics, play production etc.
If you have an aptitude for animation & multimedia, the future shall definitely be bright. Money comes afterwards, and automatically.
