As per the most authentic rankings of 2016 i.e. NIRF 2016 Rankings of Educational Institutions, which was measured by the government of India itself, BIT Mesra received the following places:
In Engineering, it was placed 17th and was 2nd in private institutions behind VIT (which was 13th). In Pharmacy, it made it to the 7th place, which is a big achievement. In management, it was placed 25th, which is also not bad. In terms of comparison with IITs and NITs, definitely, it can't be compared with the top IITs and a few NITs comprising of top 4 or 5 of them.
