Which institutes are the best to pursue jewellery designing?

Jewellery is the very close topic for the women in India. India is the largest consumer of gold and hence India imports a lot of gold every year. Jewellery Designing is a blend of creativity and imagination of a person. The person who have a good sense of design and creative imagination along with sound technical knowledge for them Jewellery designing is the right career option. A student can take an admission for the Bachelors in Design course. This will be a good platform for the students to learn. They can purpose the course from the renounce of institutes like National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). After getting the proper knowledge both technical and traits of Jewellaery Designing firs for a practical knowledge. Here are some of the top companies that recruit the Jewellery Designers like Tanishq, Gili, Nakshatra, PNG, Woman Hari Pethe Jewellers, Rank Jewellers, Swarvoskiet etc. Whereas you can also work with Fashion Designers or else you can start your own venture too. NIFT Kolkata stared its Accessory Design Programme (known as Fashion and Lifestyle Accessory Design - F&LA) in 2013 with the first and the finest batch of students passing in 2017. The department specializes in Jewelry Design (same as NIFT Gandhinagar Accessory Design Department which is far superior to NIFT Kolkata in all aspects). Being a NIFT Kolkata F&LA student who has visited most of the NIFT Campuses including NIFT Gandhinagar and NIFT Mumbai (both providing similar courses), I can definitely say that NIFT Kolkata lags behind in all aspects. Lack of infrastructure (labs, machinery), no lab assistants, resources (course specific books in Library and other materials/tools required for Jewelry) and support from management is not hidden from anyone. This inferiority also reflects when it comes to placements where NIFT Kolkata comes at the last spot after Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gandhinagar and Chennai. In the year 2017, just one company showed up for campus placement for AD Department with package of INR 10000/month which in itself is an insult to the department. The newly started (4 year old) AD department in NIFT Kolkata has had witness the worst of the nightmares. The students of Kolkata AD department have had just 2 faculties for their entire course who are more keen in politics and their own promotion than in the welfare of the students. One of the faculty have left as of Jan 2018 and it is run but a single faculty the HOD (although an old faculty but totally in experienced in Jewelry design). The head of department has also been accused of threatening some of the students multiple times and has been barred (from Head Office New Delhi on the basis of complaint made by students) from participating in any activity related to the second AD Batch 201418 included teaching. She has also been accused of altering the marks and attendance of several students and many other such ill activities. The lack of labs, resources and support for the Kolkata AD department is also not hidden from anyone, whereas on the other hand NIFT AD Gandhinagar and Mumbai have well equipped state of the art labs, supporting assistants and highly experienced faculties. The students in AD Kolkata have to rely on outside vendors/karigars to get their products manufactured which hampers their complete learning process and results in lack of hands on material handling knowledge.
