The syllabus of automobile engineering and mechanical engineering have many topics in common. In fact, we can say automobile engineering is just one of the stream of mechanical engineering. The most important thing is that, some of the top institutes even don't offer automobile engineering for B.Tech course. Because of having most of syllabus in common, mostly institutes offer only mechanical engineering. So, if you want to be an automobile engineer, you can join any good institution for mechanical engineering. The institute you will choose, is the most important thing as this is what matters at the end.

If you have interest in auto-mobile engineering, it is good to take up the course. It always depends on your own interest. All we today need are self-passionate engineers.
So, choose your course of interest. Just get guidance from those who are there in the field. They can guide you in the correct path as they know the merits demerits of the field.

Mechanical covers a part of automobile if you are not particularly looking at specifics of automobile. So until you know why to choose automobile or you have a specific goal behind automobile choose mechanical
