Both are good.
PGDM is an institute autonomous program which is approved by AICTE.
MBA is a program which is affiliated to a university.
Colleges which offer AICTE approved courses will also offer PGDM, not MBA, for example, XYZ College is affiliated to ABC University, they offer MBA course affiliated to that university, the same college is offering AICTE approved the course, it means they are offering PGDM which is not linked to ABC University.
Typically, if any PGDM is to be equivalent to MBA then the course duration should be 2 years, a 1-year PGDM will not be equal to MBA course.
Even IIMs, XLRIs doesn't offer MBA degree, they only give...more -
Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a certification program which is as per the current trends of an industry. On the other hand, MBA is a degree and not a certification program. The difference between the two lies in the fact that if you want to go for a govt. job, in that case, you need an MBA degree. Otherwise, in the private sector, it hardly makes any difference.
In fact, few reputed colleges like IIM do provide PGPM and not an MBA degree.
Lastly, as far as I am concerned, there is hardly any difference between PGDM, PGPM or PGDBM.
