Hi Sreeharsha, Mechanical engineering teaches you how things move and the means to generate momentum to gain leverage with materials and processes. Whereas, aeronautical engineering teaches how air creates loft/drag over a wing (CFD). Mechanical Engineers design parts and processes (specific) and aeronautical teaches you how to get things off the ground (wide scope) or stay on the ground. They are both good, just depends what you want to do. All the best.

Hi,
Theoretically speaking, both are similar courses. Proportion of placements vis-a-vis pass out is similar in both branches. However in India core jobs for aeronautical engineering graduates are very less. They changeover to software or do MBA or go abroad. They are not employable on main of civil aircraft since it requires DGCA license. I would therefore recomend mechanical engineering as compared with aeronautical engineering.
