For cracking civil services examination, the type of graduation does not matter. For success you will have to develop deep understanding in subjects of your choice.

    Dear candidate,
Which stream you have now and which is your favorite subject? Science and Arts both stream are good for IAS. Some students choose history, geography and political science as their main subjects while some students do IAS after engineering also. Some selects chemistry and anthropology as their main subject. It totally depends on you in which subject you feel more comfortable. Best of luck.

    Hello Ajay,
I would like to inform you that UPES, Dehradun has already started specialised BA program for students who wants to prepare for IAS. It offers BA public policy & administration with embedded civil services coaching and test preparation. Program curriculum mainly as per IAS preparation and incorporate IAS coaching and test preparation. University has joined hands with a renowned IAS academy to provide coaching facilities to students in campus only. I think this would save your lot of time as you will not have to juggle in between your graduation and IAS exam preparation. If interested you can inquire with the university. Goo

    Dear Ajay,
You need to check the university wise graduation degree because in 2015 UGC had changed the nomenclature for under graduate and post graduate program.
And other thing BA or B.Sc does not matter, if you are focused and give your time to study well regarding the same because many students from arts, economics, science and even engineering background has aim for the same and many were serving as IAS.
    All the best.
