Which is best institute for animation and game design in India?

It is really tough to directly comment on any institute best or not or answer which is the best institute in a city or country , especially for domains like web designing, animation and VFX or gaming etc. where many institutes offer many types of courses for different duration for the almost all the same pipeline . We need to see the content of the course , duration, cost , infra, earlier students outputs and skill developed , in-time course completion record , certification process & delivery of certificate in time etc. Also Same Brand has different centers and branches and fortunately/unfortunately all does not perform the same . Some centers are doing great some not, in vary place to place centers to centers and also on the local management & team. So its always good to visit the institute personally, speak to them, see the track record and then decide if its up to the mark as per your requirement.

Please first understand which degrees are offered in Animation. B.Sc. Animation & VFX is a 3-years duration course. Bachelor of Design (B. Des. ). Course in Animation is a 4-years duration course. The four years course includes 2d, 3d, VFX, etc. The difference between the two degrees is that the B. Des. Course is not only 1 year more but offers usually an international syllabus, which is completely focused on Animation only. Few of the top colleges are Artemisia College of Art & Design (Govt. University), MIT, Pune, NID, Ahmedabad (the top in the country), DSK, Pune, etc. While selecting college, consider factors such as the fee, whether the faculty has animation industry experience or not, whether the college has facilities such as its own animation production studio, whether the college teaches classical animation (base of all kind of animation) or not, etc. Availability of equipments such as Light boxes, etc. should be there. Do your own research by calling various colleges or email them. Do not go for training institutes or certificate and diploma courses as they teach superficially. Look for colleges, preferably affiliated to the government universities. Usually they are cheaper and more authentic. Artemisia, MIT, DSK, all three offer degree courses in Game Design also. NID Ahemdabad offers Masters degree in Game Design. Do not confuse Game Design with Game programming. Game Design usually would mean the artistic, the creative part of developing a Game. Also remember that without learning 2D Animation, you can become a good game designer. You must develop very good sketching & painting skills also while completing your degree course. Usually you will find game design colleges more expensive than animation colleges.
