B.Tech CSE is the most preferred educational qualification by Indian IT recruiters. NIT Surathkal is the best NIT for CSE. Therefore, you are advised to opt for B.Tech CSE over B.Tech IT at NIT Surathakal.

B.Tech in CSE will give you more exposure towards software as well as hardware of computers. And, IT will only focuses on software. So, recruiters will mostly hire students from CSE over IT. So, I will suggest you to opt for B.Tech in CSE at NIT-Surathykal. All the best.

CSE is better in NITK (Surathkal) than IT as they have better faculty in place and better electives. IT department doesn't have enough faculty in place to offer electives but placements in both departments are good.
