Petroleum engineering has less scope but computer engineering has vast scope. Both of them are different but computer engineering has vast paths to follow. I would suggest you to check with Amity University, Lovely Professional University, Sharda University for the computer engineering courses as they provide better placements and options. -

In the field of Petroleum Engineering subjects like fluid mechanics, basic mechanics at initial level and drilling, hydraulics of drilling fluids, production engineering, reservoir engineering etc. Will come on your path while in computer Science Engineering basic C, C+, Java to data structures, completed programming at higher level and coding will be the subjects you will have to go through.
