    Tharun, a lot depends upon your interest also.Civil has its own specialties whereas mechanical its own. Best for you would be that you log in to some good college sites like lovely univ, ambedkar inst. pant etc and check the schemes and syllabus.

    Civil and mechanical , both are the prestigious branches in engineering.
    The first year syllabus of each and every engineering branch is same. The difference arises from the second year. The only common subjects in civil and mechanical is machine drawing and fluid mechanics in second year. Rest the years the syllabus is totally different.
    In mechanical,the subjects such as-
    Thermodynamics , material structure, material properties, several casting, forming ,etc methods for product formation, product simulation, cad , several thermodynamic cycles , energy conversion systems , convection ,conduction , radiation , MATLAB , and much more.
