Being a CAT trainer, for over 15 years, I would strongly recommend the PGDM program. The PGDM program enjoys flexibility, which in turn, makes the syllabus contemporary, taking into account the need of the industry. The focus of the program is not on rote learning, but understanding concepts and applying it, which is done through case studies. The program also hones your communication skills over a period of time, which is so critical to rise up the ladder. However, you have to ensure, that you pursue your PGDM program from the top 50 B Schools in India

PGDM and MBA ,both are management courses.
MBA is Masters Degree and PGDM is nothing but Post Graduation Diploma in Management.
Generally, MBA course is academically more sound and deep while comparing to PGDM.
With MBA degree you can pursue Ph.D. but not with PGDM.
With MBA Degree you can apply for Govt. Job Openings wherein Masters Degree is required.
However, for private sector, some companies prefer MBA graduates over PGDM but overall PGDM course has acceptance in private sector.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or Post Graduate Programme (PGP) or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) are both management courses at Master’s level.
MBA
A two year management degree expands to Master of Business Administration, only Universities can grant MBA degrees. It could be a recognized foreign university or an Indian University.
