Which is the best book to prepare for CUCET for English and comparative literature?

CTET or Central Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by CBSE. It is a national level examination conducted annually to recruit teachers at the primary and elementary level in Central Government Schools across India. This year, CTET 2019 is scheduled for July 7, 2019 in pen-paper mode. NCERT books are the best source for preparation of Central Teacher Eligibility Test. Check CTET Exam Pattern Apart from that authors like Arihant, Odisha Publication, G K Publication have several books which help in preparing for the exam. Practice from previous year papers and take mock tests on regular basis.

If you are geared towards teaching high school and community college, The ELT programme would be more helpful as it includes pedagogical and language teaching-specific theories - on top of linguistic theories. The thesis would also be on language education (Although I have heard of M.A. ELT programs accepting purely linguistics-based thesis). The M.A. In English (language or literature / rarely both nowadays) focuses on linguistic and literary theories without touching on how it should be taught or applied in the classroom. Often, this is geared toward those who want to pursue research in the academy and are thinking about the possibility of doing a Ph.D. in Linguistics or Literature. My short unsolicited advice would be, pursue an M.A. In ELT (Language teaching or Literature teaching) then do a Ph.D. in English (Language or Literature. ). This way, you will have pedagogical training as well as deep content-based understanding.
