It totally depends on the various programs, the companies that are coming for placement to the colleges and for the job profile they are looking for. Industry situations also play an important part. -

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is known for its Upstream, Gas and chemical engineering. Although other conventional branches such as mechanical, electrical, electronics etc. Are on the rise now and are doing well. So the difference between Petroleum and non Petroleum branches is getting dwarfed there (due to university's increased focus on non Petroleum branches too).
