In engineering, no branch is best and none is worst. It all depends upon the interest and hard work of the student that how seriously, willingly and sincerely one studies the course. You can prefer the branch in following order–
1) Computer science
2) Mechanical/electronics and communication
3) Electrical engineering
4) Civil engineering
5) Aeronautical engineering
6) Chemical engineering
7) Metallurgy engineering -
All courses are the best. India is a developing country, so requirements can never end. Just choose according to your interests.
As for popularity, CSE is the most favourite branch these days. After that, EC, IT, EIC, aviation, automobile, petroleum are emerging branches.
