Which is the best course at NIFT, Bengaluru?

<p>The best course offered here, at NIFT Bangalore is Bachelor of Design (BDes), but the students should choose their courses according to their field of interest. In NIFT Bangalore, students need to decide their courses at the time of counselling itself, which does not avail them to get exposed to all domains and then choose. But via internet they can look after various courses and thereby, apply in their interested domains/courses.</p>

<p>All courses are exceptionally good. You can just select the one that you are most interested in.</p><p>The problem here is unlike NID where you get to explore different areas in your foundation year before selecting your specialisation during the second year, in NIFT you would need to select your specialisation on the time of seat counseling itself.</p><p>How do you decide which department is best for you? </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Go to the institute website and see the student portfolio works of students from each department and also do a research on each field.</p><p>Talk to the students/alumni of NIFT you can easily find through Instagram and they will probably answer most of your questions.</p><p>Lastly what's your inner passion and what turns you on? Apparel designing? Textile designing? Knitwear designing? Fashion communication? You would have already found out what interests you the most after going through the portfolios of students and researching about the field.</p><p>Last but most importantly, </p><p>Choosing a discipline (FD, FC, TD, AD, LD, or KD) does not mean you have to stick to your department subjects and not give a fuc* about other departments. You can learn things from all other department students.</p><p>Scenarios:</p><p>If you are a fashion design student and you wish to learn more about knits to add to your portfolio you can approach your knitwear student to teach you about it.</p><p>If you are a leather design student and you want to learn more advanced draping or garment construction to implement in your leather garments collection you can definitely approach your friend in fashion design department.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>It is just that you have to be curious. You might not be able to learn everything because design is an unsurprisingly vast field. But the more is definitely better.</p><p>Secondly all departments have 40&ndash;50% similar course syllabus in many ways. Pattern making, computer applications, design process, illustration etc. are taught no matter if you are a knitwear, fashion or leather student. So you don&rsquo;t necessarily have to go to fashion design department to be a fashion designer. In fact a specialisation is sometimes a plus point.</p>
