for more govt. jobs Electronics & Communications & Mechanical is good. But if u r interested in little bit in computers, then i thick IT or Computer is the best option. In India still IT sector is booming & India tops in Software.

Electronics & Communications / Mechanical Engineering are the better option to look at.
