1. M.Com: I have done this course after B.Com. Believe me when I tell you that M.Com is not for those who don't have brains to pursue courses like MBA or CA. I have been a distinction holder throughout my career including M.Com. You will easily get a job as lecturer in colleges, in finance companies or firms. I have been working for two years in a mortgage servicing company as Reconciliation Analyst (Sr.).
2. Chartered Accountancy (CA): Needless to say about the vast and regarding career options available for a Chartered Accountant. One needs to clear the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) to become eligible for CA. You can prepare and clear the CPT while studying B. Com. You must be completely dedicated in clearing your CA exams. It is lot tougher than other courses but as they say, nothing is tougher if you have the will to fight for it.
3. Company Secretaryship: It is one of the career options after B.Com, offered by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). There are three stages to become a qualified company secretary. The stages comprises of foundation course, intermediate stage and training. Once you complete B.Com, you are directly eligible to sit for intermediate exams.
The company secretary is responsible for the efficient administration of a company, particularly with regard to ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and for ensuring that decisions of the board of directors are implemented. CS' are the companys named representative on legal documents, and it is their responsibility to ensure that the company and its directors operate within the law.
4. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) : The course of a CMA comprises of three stages viz. Foundation Course, Intermediate Course and Final stage. A CMA is involved in a wide arena of company affairs such as pricing and costing of products and services and preparation of various statements as per accounting standards. They perform a very important role in planning, controlling and monitoring of a company's product cost and determining its price.
5. MBA: It is the most favored option by commerce graduates. After completion of MBA or PGDBM you can easily get a job in financial services sector. As the space of financial services has become increasingly crowded due to presence of candidates with similar kind of skills, you need to differentiate yourself.
