    Go for a course which covers all the 3 domains ( Pre production , production & Post production domains ) & VFX parts in depth , normally such courses will be of 12 months n above and up to 3 years .

    Well if you've learnt animation then only you go for character animation. However the path to character animaton as Neelu says - Learning Character Animation begins once you have learnt all the way upto animation, I.e. form, color, balance and design, followed by a/v and keyframe animation, and the tools of 3d. Character animation requires you to learn performance animation.
    What you actually need is a finishing school once you've done your animation course. VFS, Vanarts, Animationmentor, AnimSchool, MethodAnimation are some of the best in business today.
