Government IITs and NITs are having a low fee structure for the students willing to get technical knowledge but admission in them is not everyone's cup of tea. A lot of hard work and dedication is required to crack their entrance exams. And also there are schemes of scholarship for the students from SC, ST and OBC. Generally, private colleges have a very high fee structure so better to try to crack IIT exams.

If you are able to get admission in any of the government colleges like NIT or private institute like BITS with a scholarship then it would be quite easy with the fee expenditure. Otherwise, private universities will make your pockets very light.
