    Srkian, , these days emphasis is more on CSE as compared to ECE. Though job opportunities available are alike. Salary package is more for CSE students.
    Now the most important thing is the university/ college that you choose for your degree. These days we have many good government as well as private universities like IITs, IITTs, NITs, LPU, SRM, etc offering admissions in different engineering branches. Some of them offer admission just on the basis of tests like JEE and some offer you admission on basis of JEE or their own test or direct admission too on the basis of your marks in previous qualifying exam.     A lot depends on your interest as you can give your best in a stream for which you are passionate. The companies to pick the bests. So decide your interest to give your best. Both fields are doing equally good with B.Tech CSE taking an edge.     I suggest cse as the best option.
    Most of my friends who did their graduation with ece background doing certified software courses and trying for software jobs.
    As per the employability u have more openings in software than electronics.

    Both are good, but CSE is having more opportunities and a good scope. Placements are good at CSE as it is in demand. If you're quick learner, then you can easily get a high package job.
