7 years agoHello Vighnesh,
The top 7 IITs for mechanical engineering are as follows-
1. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D)
2. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai (IIT-B)
3. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur IIT KGP)
4. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K)
5. Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M)
6. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-R)
7. Indian Institute of Technology BHU (IIT-BHU), Varanasi
For all top IITs like Madras, kharagpur, bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Hyderabad you are supposed to be under AIR 9000 for JEE Advanced to get any of the branches at above colleges. Hope I've cleared your doubt.

7 years agoAll old IIT's are good enough to provide you state of the art resources that you'll need in your 4 year programme, I would suggest you no to worry on these things rather focus on your studies as even few marks can make a lot of difference air rank required totally depends on your category for old IIT's you must have air under 1000 for general category. So study hard and think about all this prospects when you get your rank card in your hand. All the best. -
IIT Bombay
IIT Delhi
IIT Kanpur
are good IITs for mechanical engineering.
