Go for engineering. It does't mean that engineering is the best. But because it has many option for job opportunities. Both career are good but B.Sc. has limited number of choices for jobs. While engineering has lot more in jobs. And it is has growing industries which recruit the candidate. But I suggest don't go with advice from anyone. Just listen to your self. Go in which you have interest.

If you are an average student then i would suggest you to go for B.sc because it's easier than engineering and on the other hand average students in engineering who don't improvise their study will end up with a lot of backlogs but if you think that you are smart or you can cope up with engineering study then go for it.
