Hello! Since the day I choose PCM for myself, I had keen interest towards Chemistry and chemical labs. Though I am B.Tech graduate from LPU, but I had a roommate who was enrolled in B.Sc. Hons Chemistry and we always use to share experiences with each other. I can not comment anything about others, I can just share my experience, I hope that helps you in taking a wise decision. To bridge this industry-academia gap, LPU prepares their students by offering them state-of-the-art labs having top-of-the-line equipment to fulfill their dreams in the field of research and technology. In semester 1st and 2nd : There will be the introduction to fundamental aspects of general and physical chemistry. In 2nd semester, mainly inorganic chemistry will be discussed. Students will learn the laboratory and practical techniques needed for the later years of the course. Students have to choose and elective paper on applied chemistry as well. In semester 3rd and 4th : Physical, Inorganic and analytical chemistry will be taught in 3rd semester. Organic chemistry will be covered in semester 4th. The experimental work will be continued throughout the session to develop the theoretical knowledge and practical as well. Additional papers covering chemistry of consumer products, chemical kinetics, and catalysis & solid state chemistry will help them to enhance their skills in the field of chemistry. In semester 5th and 6th : Students will undertake more advanced study of the inorganic, physical, analytical and organic chemistry, given the choice to choose optional papers in areas of bio-inorganic, selected topics in inorganic chemistry, chemistry of polymers and chemistry of synthetic drugs keeping the experimental study parallel with the electives. The fields offered are organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry. This programme prepares a student to become an effective teacher, chemist and a good researcher. In addition to these sectors student can also look towards IT sector as minor in IT is also being offered in this programme. The programme outcomes are: #Scientific exploration # Conduct experimentation # Ethics # Communication # Environment and sustainability # Individual and team work # Life-long learning The eligibility is : Pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English and Chemistry) or equivalent. The department has Highly Qualified and Experienced faculty with more than 40 to 50 Ph.D. faculty members working in different thrust areas of research. With an increasing number of faculty members from IITs and CSIR Institutes and Pharmaceutical Industries, school of Chemistry is enriched with eminent researchers who are providing the best education to the students and are developing their ability to analyze and criticize accepted theories. There are Excellent Placements every year, almost 90% of students in the department get placed in various pharmaceutical, chemical and other companies. Chemistry graduates include pharmaceutical industries, chemical manufacturers, forensic Science department, plastic industries, agrochemical industries, etc. Apart from these, they are also recruited in other fields such as oil, gas and power sectors and even in defense services.
