The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests is the highest-ranking officer in the Indian Forest Service, responsible for managing the status of India's forests, environment, and wildlife issues. It is the highest rank of an Indian Forest Service officer in a state.
In some cases, states may have more than one PCCF position, in which case one of them is designated as the Head of Forest Force (HOFF). In their activities, HOFF/PCCF is assisted by APCCFs, Chief Conservator of Forests, Conservator of Forests, and field-level functionaries such as DFOs and Range Forest officers.
