8 years agoHello,
Undoubtedly, CAT is tougher to crack.
The difficulty level of MAT is way easier than that of CAT.
Common Admission test (CAT) is important prerequisite for admission into more than 100 management institutes across India .The of the most,if not the most important Examination for getting into quality & most prestigious B-schools of the nation. CAT is organized by IIM generally the older ones till now(There are 19 functional IIMs among which 6 are commonly categorized into the newer ones).

MAT is easy. If you are preparing for CAT then no need of separate work for MAT. The syllabus is almost the same. I was also a student who prepared for CAT immediately after my graduation. The important things which you should look into while preparing for this exam are as follows:
1. Select one of the best coaching centers which offer quality education- TIME is one of the famous coaching centers for CAT.
2. Dedication- Be focused on the aim which you need to achieve.
3. Try to read Hindu newspaper editorial. Most of the passages which appear in CAT are from Hindu editorial.
4. Try to maximum number of online mock test. You will definitely...more -
If you compare CAT with MAT, CAT is relatively more difficult than MAT. This mainly is because CAT was started by the premier B-School IIMs, hence the difficulty level is very high. Also, they are more focused on the speed and accuracy level of the candidates. Also, CAT exams are conducted only once a year and hence if you want to retry CAT, you would lose a year. However, MAT exams are conducted four times a year. Also, CAT exams have higher negative markings for the wrong answers compared to MAT exam.
It is understood that any average student can easily score an 80% percentile in MAT without much preparation, however, for CAT you will...more -
There is no doubt that CAT is much tougher exam compared MAT. Only thing is that MAT have more number of questions and time is limited but the level or quality of questions asked in MAT exam are very easy and stands nowhere near to questions asked in CAT exam.
And the CAT exam score are accepted by the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and other top ranked B Schools like:
SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR)
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS)
Management Development Institute (MDI)
National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE)
Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay

CAT is easily tougher to crack as compared to MAT and there are several reasons for the same:-
1. Competition: Being conducted by the IIMs, CAT has cut-throat competition every year as majority of the top-ranked IIMs and non-IIMs (FMS, SP Jain, MDI, etc.) consider its scores for their respective admission processes. Around 2 lakh candidates of various backgrounds appear for CAT every year. Whereas the number of top-ranked B-schools accepting scores of MAT is very less thus the competition isn't that stiff.
2. Level of Difficulty (LOD): The LOD of CAT makes it one of the two toughest MBA entrance exams (along with XAT) in India whereas...more -
Common Aptitude Test (CAT) and Management Aptitude Test (MAT) are only two national exams for management that are accepted by most of the B-Schools. Common Aptitude Test (CAT) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) whereas Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). Common Aptitude Test (CAT) is conducted only once a year basically in the fourth quarter of the year and Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is conducted four times a year, once in every quarter. The syllabus and preparation basically is same for both the exams. The main three sections of both the exams are Verbal and...more
