    S-block elements in the periodic table are the elements of the first and second groups. The whole periodic table is divided into 4-blocks. the s block, p block, d block and the f block. The block to which an element belongs is basically the orbital to which the ultimate electron of the element enters. For example, for Sodium, the electronic configuration is 1s(2), 2s(2), 2p(6), 3s(1). The total electrons in sodium are 11, as in brackets. Since the last electron enters the s orbital, it is an s-block element.
    Similarly, all the group 1 and 2 elements are s-block elements (group 1 elements like Li, K etc will have 1 electron, like sodium,
