Go for Manipal University (main campus). MIT Manipal is known for its quality education. It has excellent infrastructure and faculties too. It is in top 50 ranks by National Institution ranking framework among the Indian Engineering colleges. Every time I talk about MIT Manipal, I talk about the main campus only not including Jaipur Campus or Sikkim Campus.
Any branch from the main campus is good and that too if its Computer Science and Engineering, it's excellent. I don't know much about VIT but Manipal Institute of Technology has been ranked in top 1000 engineering colleges all over the world by QS world rankings I.e. it is the only private engineering college of India to reach this landmark.

The first thing you should keep in mind while choosing between VIT and MIT should be which campus you are getting. If it is the main campus, i.e. Vellore and Manipal then you can go for either of the two as there isn't much difference between both in terms of placement, campus life and stuff. But if you are getting any other campus other than the main campus in MIT i.e if you are getting either Jaipur or Sikkim, I would recommend you to prefer VIT even if it is Chennai campus, because of the placement record of the previous years for both the colleges.
