    When mechanical branch is concerned, both the colleges will be equally great. The thing is, the core companies are not that big and do not provide huge packages like the non-core do. But a lot of companies do visit the campus of both universities (core companies) and there's a lot of chance that if you work hard, you can get a dream offer.

    The first thing you should keep in mind while choosing between VIT and MIT should be which campus you are getting. If it is the main campus, i.e. Vellore and Manipal then you can go for either of the two as there isn't much difference between both in terms of placement, campus life and stuff. But if you are getting any other campus other than the main campus in MIT i.e. if you are getting either Jaipur or Sikkim, I would recommend you to prefer VIT even if it is Chennai campus, because of the placement record of the previous years for both the colleges.
