    Both the branches stand with their standards and are equally good. You decide which one you want.

    I can tell you the basic difference between both streams and the you can decide which is more suitable for you. Mechanical engineer as the name itself says, this branch is based on machines, their mechanisms. It contains a lot of major topics like IC engines, thermodynamics, robotics, material science, air crafts, etc. Whereas, civil engineering is basically focused on construction work as well as development of the structures. It will consist of different types of structures, various loads acting on structures, development of different techniques to make buildings more reliable and stronger.
