Which one is better CAT or GATE ?

It depends on your objectives. Comparing them would not be fair because they are both distinct tests with distinct fields. While GATE is centered on an in-depth understanding of technical disciplines, CAT is founded on a solid foundation of mathematics, English and analytical skills. GATE is a pathway to an MBA, whereas CAT is for an M.Tech.

The first and the foremost thing is the career which you want to pursue for probably whole of your life. An MBA will open up new avenues and hone your skills so as to suit and sustain the rigors of the corporate world. Either you wish to be an entrepreneur or join your family business or join a corporate company, an MBA (preferably from a good B school) would make you competitive enough to grow and attract lucrative job offers. If you wish to pursue a career in management, then doing so only from the top B schools makes sense because only the MBA graduates from the few top B schools get good placement opportunities and the lucrative salary packages. Alongwith CAT appearing for other entrance exams such as IIFT XAT SNAP NMAT, etc. Is a sensible option to keep the doors open from our side. Opting for an MBA directly as a Fresher can be a good option if you have your academic background well in place because all the Iims and a few other top B schools too, consider the academics in the selection procedure. And if not so, then other option is having a decent work experience for a year or two which would add to your profile, and then going for an MBA. And if you wish to continue your career ahead in the core field of your study, then appearing for GATE would be an appropriate option. Cracking GATE in an effective manner would need he conceptual clarity in your core subjects. And scoring really good in GATE is of utmost importance because the PSUs only hire the cream lot from the thousands who appear in the exam. Also in case you wish to pursue Masters, the top Technological institutes too prefer the ones who have scored well above the cut-offs. Bottom-line, it all rests on the career path that you choose for yourself. Nothing comes without a cost. Either of the options provide you with plethora of opportunities, it's on your inclinations that you choose the best suited one for you. All the best!

It depends on what you're aiming for. Both are different exams with different fields and comparing them would not be fair. CAT is based on strong grounds of Mathematics, English and analytical skills while GATE is based on in depth knowledge of engineering subjects. While CAT is a gateway to MBA, GATE is for M.Tech.

Hello, The simplest answer to query is one can appear in CAT to get admissions in Business schools for Managing studies wheras GATE to get admissions in IITs and NITs for M.Tech, PhD, MS, etc. You will be finding many other career opportunities through both the exams. Good luck. Thank you.
