Which one is better: CSE or IT? What should I choose from these two?

I am a 12th pass student who wants to join engineering, but I always face this problem. As cutoff for IT is always less than that of CS, a student finds it difficult to choose the right one between them. Also, 80% of the syllabus remains same in both the cases but recruitment differs by a margin.
