Although, both the departments are about food production, but the bakery and confectionery works on baking bread, cakes, desserts, and preparing chocolates and pralines. So if one is interested in fancy cakes, desserts and bread then one must go for bakery and confectionery.
On the other hand, food production department majorly comprises of two sections one is the hot kitchen and other is the cold kitchen and it is not like a bakery, kitchens are different and you can work on different cuisines.
