Which one is better: Travel and Tourism Management or Event Management and why?

Event management is better as these days are for event management only. As the trend says we must go for that.

Travel and tourism has wider scope which will help you to know various industries like aviation, cruise, Tour Operator like Thomas Cook which also get you to explore in various countries and gain knowledge.

Eligibility criteria for CAT 2017: The candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST and PWD/DA category). Percentage obtained in Bachelors degree would be calculated on the basis of practice followed by the concerned university/institution. In case of grades/CGPA, the conversion would be based on the process defined by the concerned university/ institution. In absence of any percentage conversion scheme, candidates CGPA will be divided by maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelors degree/equivalent qualification are also eligible to apply for CAT.

Travel and tourism management is the field that involves management and planning of a series of events or a complete tour for a said group of people. Event management is a more focused sector that works on one event at a time, which could be corporate or non-corporate. Tour/travel management offers wider scope as one is responsible for a lot of arrangements right from the ticket bookings, stay arrangements, travel/sightseeing arrangements. Knowledge of the location, purpose of visit and required arrangements are key importance of this field. Event management involves the arrangements and management of a particular event for a client. The arrangements generally involve venue bookings, catering, setup (stage/music etc.). As a career, both offer good opportunities however in case one is looking for a job then the best choice would be tour management however in case of event management the scope is larger in case one wishes to go into entrepreneurship which initially requires a lot of experience and brand building.
