Which one should I opt for engineering- Computer Science or Information Technology?

B.Tech in CSE and B.Tech IT degrees are equally good with 80% similar syllabus. CSE graduates have better systems concepts in comparison to IT graduates. CSE graduates have a minor edge over IT graduates. CSE graduates get both Apps and System development job whereas IT graduates like MCA graduates are preferred for Apps development roles. Indian IT industry give only Apps development job to IT graduates. B.Tech CSE graduates may also get better placement and little better CTC in comparison to IT graduates if they are from reputed Engineering colleges like IIT or NITs etc.

Hello, Computer science engineering, equally covers both hardware and software aspects. Information technology engineering and software engineering has a lesser focus on the hardware aspect. However, this difference hardly matters as universities frequently keep updating the syllabus for each branch. Unless and until, you get a job in a hardware manufacturing company like Intel, Logitech, etc. this little difference in the syllabus hardly matters. Most of the jobs offered is in the software domain. If you opt for information technology engineering, you can become a software engineer. If you opt for computer science engineering, you can become a computer engineer, which covers both hardware and software. So, there is no need to compare the little differences between the branches. You can get admission in a good college in any of these branches. You should keep a percentage of over 70% without any backlogs. All the best.
