Which one should I prefer for a PGPM program: Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore or Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and why?

IIM Bangalore anyday. It has a smaller batch size, is older, better climate, better placements (more offers from consult firms and banks), better faculty, surrounded by startups and MNCs. Hence, IIM Bangalore hands down.

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is the 2nd best business school in the country while Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is considered as the best B-School after IIM A/B/C. Location wise Bangalore is far better than Lucknow.The campus of IIM, Lucknow is around 20 Kms from the Lucknow central railway station.You will hardly find any taxi late night. If you compare fee, then IIM, Lucknow will have the upper hand but the return on investment is better in IIM, Bangalore. Placement is very good in both the institute but again due to location and better brand value IIM, Bangalore will beat IIM, Lucknow in terms of placement. Competition in IIM, Bangalore is higher than IIM, Lucknow. Overall you should prefer IIM, Bangalore over IIM, Lucknow. Hope it helped.

The evaluation can be done on the following factors: 1) Brand: As common knowledge, the brand of IIM-B is better than for IIM, Lucknow which can be attributed to the location as Bangalore and the age of IIM. 2) Faculty: IIMs have a high standards of faculty and the professors do rotate between IIMs so both institutes fare well. But again the brand and location drives better quality of faculty to IIM-B. The academic rigor is higher in IIM, Lucknow. 3) Placements: Most of the companies (consulting, marketing) that visit IIM-B campus also visit IIM-L except some finance companies for which IIM-B is preferable. In terms of annual packages, the average is around Rs 18 lakhs per annum but the average does not mean that a student cannot get higher packages. Sometimes students prefer IIM-L so that competition is lower and they get better placements there compared to what they would have got if they were in IIM-B. 4) Infrastructure: IIMs have great infrastructure to promote good concentration and learning environment for the students but the weather of Bangalore makes it a better campus. 5) Batch size: The batch sizes for IIM-B and IIM-L are 405 and 435 respectively as of now and thus not a considerable difference.

PGPM from IIM is one of the most highlighted degree for a student in his career life. IIM Bangalore has very high reputation as compared to IIM Lucknow. Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is the second most famous autonomous management college in India. This campus has fee structure of approximately 18.90 lakhs. IIM Bangalore has lot of international and national recognition. It has relationship with almost 114 MBA campuses all over India. IIM BANGALORE placement is very high- highest package of rupees 87 lakhs is offered in this campus and companies like Bain, KPMG, NOMURA, EY, GOOGLE etc. are regular recruiters. IIM LUCKNOW Fees is approximately 10.96 lakhs and the placement is comparatively less as compared to Bangalore IIM. The campus is now 4th rank all over India. Both the campus conducts classes based on live case studies. So, in my opinion, IIM B is better as compared to IIM Lucknow.
