Which one should I prefer for B.Com: The Institute of Computer Accountants or St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and why?

Dear Student, St. Xavier is the famous college for B.Com (Hons.). ICA is not a college for B.Com. Some branches from ICA, may offer coaching for admissions in to B.Com course. You can also do various courses like IDA and IDA + from ICA after B.Com to update your knowledge and skills in accounting software, income tax, investment portfolio management and accounts. I had done IDA+ from ICA and also, you may get placed in different companies after completion of this course. St.Xaviers college commerce department is very famous with the experienced and highly educated faculty, especially if you want to do B.Com in honors, then it should be the college that you are looking for. There are couple of criteria, which you need to meet to get into admission for B.Com (hons.) in Xavier, Kolkata. You should pass with at least 60% of aggregate marks in your secondary higher education (plus two) and in subjects like Maths and English, you should at least get 45 % and in other subjects minimum 40%. Mathematics in plus two will be the background for all of the students who joined. But, the standards of mathematics and statastics are not that much high, considering all kinds of students getting admission into course. But, if your basics are good, then you can go for it. Xavier and ICA are very famous in India for their B.COM program. Xavier is one of the campuses which is affordable, in terms of fee structure, for all students. Having 400+ recruiters in software, non-software and technical verticals. The average salary is Rs.1.5 LPA and highest goes beyond Rs.11 LPA. The campus has a lot of international and national faculty members, who guide the students for better career development. This campus holds direct tie-up for placement with some well-known and famous multinational companies. This helps a student to get placed in an international and national firm. A large alumni network of over 4000+ help the current students in getting a job with excellent placement package. ICA has a very good brand name, but stands below Xaviers. In terms of international relations, this campus is not that good as compared to Xavier's. So, I suggest, that you take admission in Xaviers.

Hi, St. Xavier's Kolkata is best known for its Commerce Department especially B.Com (Hons). The level of Maths and Statistics that is taught is not too high. It is taught considering all types of Students (good or average at Maths). The faculty is experienced and you can easily understand whatever is taught in class. First year Maths and Stats can be a cakewalk for you if you're quite good at basics of it. From second year, the level rises and you'll be required to learn new things. On an overall level, I can say it is better than what is taught in other Commerce colleges. (Since all the students are from Maths background). According to me you should consider Saint Xavier’s College in Kolkata than The Institute of Computer accountants because Saint Xavier’s College, Kolkata is one of the most famous colleges for business school in India and ranks in top 5 business schools of India. St Xavier’s College is much better than the Institute of Computer Accountants in terms of infrastructure, facilities and faculties. Placements provided by Saint Xavier’s College, Kolkata are so much better than the placements provided by the Institute of Computer Accountants. The companies that come for the placement in Saint Xavier’s College, Kolkata are much more than the companies that visits for placements in the Institute of Computer Accountants. Average salary provided to the students of the Institute of Computer Accountants is about 2.5 LPA where is highest salary provided is about 4.5 LPA. Average salary provided to the students of Saint Xavier’s College Kolkata is about 6 lakh per annum and highest value provided is about 14 lakh per annum.

Hello, Getting into St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata is like getting into school after you have completed your school where discipline is a must with minimum 75% attendance and classes are regular and interactive unlike other colleges in India. The administration provides their students with every facility for their overall development which includes Organizing Seminars both by the students and celebrities (for e.g. Arun Jaitley delivered his speech at College's auditorium and was an interactive session which was held this January). Also, providing fields for entertainment like hosting many Bollywood Actors and Yearly fest Xavotsav is awaited by students all over Kolkata. These events are mainly organised by the students of the college and there are different societies (formed by the students themselves for every department) which manage such events. Overall the college is free from any bureaucracy and red tapism and holds an Autonomous Status which adds much to the credibility of this great college. The ICA is not very renowned. Also, the overall development of students cannot be expected from here. But we can say placement is fine. I personally believe that overall personality development of student is very important, so I prefer St. Xavier's over ICA.
