Which one should I prefer for PGDM: K. J. SIMSR or Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research and why?

K.J. SIMSR and L.N.Welingkar are equally good institutes. Both are almost ranked same among B-Schools. ROI for K.J Somaiya is better among the two. Some of the important points while selecting an institute are accreditation of the institute, institute's infrastructure, teaching faculty, specialization offered, past placements records, tuition fees, city preference, and industry interface. As both, the institutes are having the campus in Mumbai the industry exposure is good for students in either of the college. If possible a visit to college is better option to get a reality check. We School's fee structure is 11.6 lakh rupees. The average package is 8.5 LPA. PGDM courses offered: HR, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Rural Management, Retail Management, Media & Entertainment, Business Analytics, E-business, Healthcare Management and Business Design. K.J.SIMSR's fee structure is 12 lakh rupees. The average package is 8.5 LPA. PGDM courses offered: HR, Marketing, Operations, Finance, International Business, Retail Management and Financial Services, Communications. As both the colleges are in Mumbai with almost similar ranking and the list of recruiters visiting the campuses of both the colleges are almost same with similar kind of packages. Both the colleges offer student exchange programs, wherein, few students get a chance to go and study in foreign universities for a certain period of time. Other than this, We School offers GCL Global Corporate Citizen Leadership program which is an exclusive program. This is a 6 months project based on a problem statement offered by corporates. You get to work on the problem statement given by corporates by working along with them and meeting various stakeholders in the process. This program gives a good business exposure to students of We School. This could be one differentiator when you need to choose between the two colleges.

Among these two B-schools, one should ideally give first priority to SIMSR over Welingkar due to its slightly better performance over various parameters like brand value, teaching pedagogy, industrial exposure, placement statistics, campus life, etc. Unlike Welingkar (or for that matter even other B-schools like NMIMS, JBIMS, etc. in and around Mumbai), SIMSR offers a much better campus life; an essential component while pursuing MBA in any B-school. Hence, an aspirant who wishes to pursue MBA from a top-ranked B-school in Mumbai should try for both of them but give more importance to SIMSR. KJSIMSR has proven track record as compared to LN Welingkar. Both the campuses are excellent in terms of education. KJ SIMSR stands little higher than Welingkar based on placement. Management education is one of the demanded field of education nowadays. A large number of campuses are offering management education.The campuses have excellent facilities.
