Which one would be the best for a mechanical engineer - MBA or PGDM in finance?

There is no difference between mba and pgdm. Its only nomenclature which differs. After pursuing graduation in mechanical engineering, you should go for mba/pgdm(operations). That would b more fruitful relating your grad background. All the best. Thank you.
