Syllabus of CS and IT is 80 to 90% similar. CSE provides good theoritical Computational Science fundamentals and prepares you for Systems Developer role. IT emphasis on Business Applications development. BTech IT help you to become Apps Developer. A System developer can easily do Apps programming without much of training but vice versa is not true. Therefore, Indian IT Industry prefers CSE graduates over IT graduates. CSE attracts better talent and it's seats fill much earlier in comparison to IT seats. If you have a choice you may prefer CSE over IT.

Actually, CSE is the core field and IT was introduced later. The course is similar to a great extent except some hardware subjects are introduced in CSE in the final year of your college. CSE prepares you as a developer while IT as an app developer. I think the companies gives equal opportunities to both branch students .

Dear Ankit, Both are the good streams, You can choose any branch according to your interest. If we compare both the branches then CSE has more scope than other streams. CSE: Job openings for Software professionals is much higher in the corporate sector than in public sector. There is a huge scope of placements in CSE. In fact, it has taken the top position in placements as compared to the other fields. Programming involves a lot of innovations and students who love programming and designing or have a creative mind with a good understanding of coding can get into CSE and fit in very easily. Being an alumnus of LPU and currently working

As per my knowledge, Computer Science engineers are involved in many aspects of computing from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers and supercomputers to circuit designing and writing software that powers them. Information technology deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to store, protect the process, transmit and securely retrieve data. IT professionals perform a variety of tasks that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. Both the branches are good, take the branch in which you are interested. I would advise you to choose

Since the teaching module and syllabus is nearly same for both the courses. The slight difference is that CSE is a core engineering branch whereas IT has emerged later. If you want to do software development then you can opt for CSE branch.
