Course entirely depends on your interests. CSE is a lot about coding, software development and OS etc. EEE has more of power electronics, circuits and systems, micro controllers etc. EEE is a more older and established core branch compared to CSE and it also has a wider range of options. Students who belong to the General AI category need to secure a rank between 1528 and 2158 to be eligible for BTech CSE branch. On the other hand, the OBC AI category students need a rank between 495 and 3690. Please note that other categories will have different cutoffs accordingly. 

Cut off ranges for all courses are different from each other at NITK Surathkal. The round 1 closing rank for BTech in Computational and Data Science was 3192 for admission into NIT Surathkal. The last round closing cutoff rank for the same course was 4470.
