Computer science engineers are involved in many aspects of computing from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers and supercomputers to circuit designing and writing software that powers them.
Information technology deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to store, protect the process, transmit and securely retrieve data. IT professionals perform a variety of tasks that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases.
Both the branches are good, take the branch in which you are interested.

There is no such thing as 'better' in this case. It depends on your career plans and whether you enjoy working more with hardware or software. They both lead to lucrative and secure jobs, so which one is better will always depend on your plans.

If you have option to choose either of them and you are confused, go for CSE.
As far as topics covered are concerned, CSE guys will get to study tad bit more about hardware whereas IT is more focused on software.
So, CSE guys can fancy a career in hardware company but not IT guys.

Now a days, IT is the best but choose what you want to do. there is no much more difference between IT and computers. Don't go with the flow. Get some knowledge about these fields and then select.

There is not much difference between CS and IT. The only difference is that you will study some of the hardware part in CS.

    Hey Ashutosh,
In computer engineering, you're taught about the computer hardware as well as software fundamentals.
Whereas in information technology, the focus is more on software development. and less on hardware.
In IT, there are subjects which teach you practical software development. Whereas in CS, subjects are more theoretical.
Now you can choose as per your interest and taste. Also some top university suggestions -
