which to take sat reasoning or sat subject test for engineering college in USA

I want to take a b.tech degree in Mechanical or electrical engineering from a USA university.Please tell me I have to take sat reasoning or sat subject test to apply for them...If possible can I also apply for japanese universities on basis of SAT scores???
