    Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat was established in 1961. SVNIT is recognised by the UGC and is a part of the thirty NITs that has been recognised by the Indian Government due to their national importance. The institute houses the 'Center of Excellence' by the World Bank, which studies flood management and water resources. SVNIT Surat offers 6 undergraduate and 19 postgraduate programmes and 3 M.Sc.
