    Hello Pooja Bhatia, As I think, India has many best universities to pursue your engineering careers such as IIT, NIT, VIT, and many other private colleges. So you can choose among them. If we talk about their rankings IIT, s occupies the highest followed by NIT and VITs. But there is mixing in their ranking as some of the NITs got higher ranks than some IITs. I think you must go through the NIRF ranking to get a detailed view. Best wishes to you.

    I'm going to answer this question based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework, or the NIRF rankings. According to NIRF, the top 5 colleges offering B.Tech. Courses respectively are IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur, then if we talk about the NITs, the top 3 NITs are NIT Tiruchirappalli, NIT Karnataka, and NIT Rourkela respectively. When considering private universities, Vellore institute of technology, Vellore comes at the top, after that comes Thapar institute of technology, and then Birla institute of technology and Science, Pilani.
