Which university is better in terms of placement: VIT or Manipal?

VIT is the best college. It has better placement record. There is a less difference in the fee structure. You can fill the application form. -

VIT is much better than Manipal but remember, discipline and rule regulations are more in VIT and it is very strict college. -
I'll prefer you to opt for the VIT as this college has good tie-ups with many companies plus this college is best in faculty and the infra, in Manipal, you will find only the crowd and due to that we'll have good campus life. Other than that, you won't find any good thing in that.
