Who is business intelligence analyst? How to pursue a course in the same field?

The term Business Intelligence (BI) refers to technologies, applications and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business information. The purpose of Business Intelligence is to support better business decision making. Essentially, Business Intelligence systems are data-driven Decision Support Systems (DSS). Business Intelligence is sometimes used interchangeably with briefing books, report and query tools and executive information systems. Business Intelligence systems provide historical, current, and predictive views of business operations, most often using data that has been gathered into a data warehouse or a data mart and occasionally working from operational data. Business intelligence analysts use data to figure out market and business trends for companies to increase profits and efficiency. They may work directly for a company or as a consultant. Business intelligence analysts gather this data through a number of ways, from mining a company's computer data through software, looking at competitor data and industry trends to help develop a picture of where the company stands in the industry, where they can improve and where they can reduce costs. Business intelligence analysts spend most of their time analyzing data, Past trends, current conditions, etc. They are able to look at large chunks of data and understand trends and then communicate those trends to the company for efficient decisions.

There are multiple BI software tools available in market. Anybody with basic graduation degree, expertise in Statistics and exposure to RDMS can do industry course and certification in one of few BI tools such as Tableau, WebFOCUS, Looker, SAP - Business Intelligence, Domo, Qlik Sense, IBM Cognos Analytics, Microsoft Power BI, BOARD, Klipfolio, TIBCO Spotfire,Sisense, Pentaho, Birst, TARGIT Decision Suite, Adaptive Discovery, Chartio, BI360 Suite, Dundas BI, ClicData ,Informer ,Izenda Reports, Phocas Business Intelligence, Cyfe, Databox, etc.

Hello, The role of business intelligence analyst is very crucial while determining the policies and projections for company’s growth and expenditure. Their main role is to cooperate with the IT department to deploy software and hardware upgrades that make it possible for companies to leverage big data use cases by monitor analytics and metrics results. The business intelligence analyst can be at positions such as: Business Intelligence Analyst: Data warehousing consultant, data miner, business intelligence technical specialist, data warehousing business analyst, data warehousing ETL Expert, data warehouse architect, data warehousing developer, etc. To do this course, various institutes are now offering with good market value. But my opinion says that you should to choose ISB, Hyderabad for this course because they have included various real time corporate case studies to enrich the students with analytical knowledge.
