It is necessary that each aspirant fulfil the course-specific eligibility requirements. Thus, the aspirants who have completed Class 12 with at least 55% aggregate (50% aggregate for reserved category) in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science are eligible to apply for a BTech course in HBTU. Moreover, for BTech Lateral Entry, aspirants need to pass CUET exam and should have completed a three-year Engineering Diploma with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST).

For admission in B.Tech courses, the students should have obtained at least 50% marks in the 10+2 level examination. It is also mandatory for students to pass an entrance exam named JEE main and UPSEE
Admissions to various B.Tech. programs for the academic session 2023 in Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur are to be made through Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Mains) 2023 merit.
HBTU admission to B.Tech courses will take place through the JEE Main score. Admission to M.Tech courses on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
