Well, India has always been a very dynamic country. The journey of country from being BHARAT to being India is well known. Britishers came ruled, be-fooled an... View More
Well, after going through the concrete views of Dr.Goutam Chatterjee ji and Arvind Joshi245 ji, i can say that we really need to focus on the fact that "Our problems are manifested in corruption and democracy" and Unless and until the feeling if "I" is diminished and "WE" dominates, justifications will go on getting stronger for individualism, and the helpless masses will die out of poverty, ignorance, being left out, and.CORRUPTION at the highest level of rulers. To add more I'd like to see experts like Aneeket , Pooja Kohli , Manmeet Kaur50173 , Nikhlesh Mathur sir and others participating and sharing their views.

A part of the answer lies in the question itself. Why the British came to India, why did they rule us,why they be-fooled us and why they went back with many things, and why they left out many things. And, why did the Muslim invaders came, why did they rule us,why they be-fooled us and why they went back with many things, and why they left out many things. Slowly, a category of people emerged who believed that it is better to be attached to a power center so that self-gratification can be done. When the state cannot do any real good for the majority, why not do good to ourselves and our nears and dears.Buttering the superiors for sake o

To answer the discussion topic, I would like to trace the Indian history first. India was never a united single country throughout its existence. It came very close to its present form only three times; during Chandragupta Maurya's reign, during Aurangzheb's rein and during British colonization. Factionalism, castism, opportunism and ego encapsulated in self pride always kept us poor & divided. Only pockets of education like Nalanda & Taxila and temple of Somnath can not really prove that we were educated and rich (the so called sone ki chiriya.) From ancient times people from other countries came and wrote about us, none of the Indians went abroad and talked about them (exception is China and Malaysia) In the wake of this background, I can safely say that we are pretty much united and progressing. Albeit slowly. Our problems are manifested in corruption and democracy. lets face it, when there is so much of diversity, we can not be democratic and taking decisions which is agreed by all or majority. Like any other nation we have talent and industrious people who when migrate with desire to excel, do wonders. Remember, we can not give their example to point out that Indians succeed but India fails. These few lacs Indians who were talented, had vision, gave it a try and succeeded in NASA, Intel etc. We are still third world because we fail in four fronts that is hygiene, infrastructure, education and policy implementation in law & order. In near future, there is no hope that we will be able to overcome these problems but we are not a failed state as well.
