For the following reasons, NITs are not as famous as IITs:
    1. Attention: The IITs usually receive lots of media attention and are treated as a symbol of intelligence among the general public. It is common to see JEE toppers as IITians rather than NITs.
    2. Global Ranking: Many top IITs, such as IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, have been ranked in the top 400 universities in the QS world ranking. This further makes IITs more globally recognised than NITs.
    3. Government funding: Since IITs are governed by the central government, there is usually equality in funding and support. This ensures better research and curriculum in IITs compared to NITs,

    Hi Deepika
It is obvious to say that the educational standards of IITs are better than NITs as the focus on core subjects is far greater. IITs are esteemed technical institutes in India just like Iims are for business education and are the choicest amongst those wanting to study Engineering and IT-related courses. The way of education and approach is also better in IIT, but it doesn't mean that NITs are not good. Both IITs and NITs are extremely good in providing education and producing good engineers, but at the same time the top IIT colleges have an edge because of their high standard of studies.
